Terms of Service

Rules of the road.

Last updated: August 25, 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using GreekGuide, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. We may update these terms from time to time; if we make a material change, we'll update the date at the top of this page, and your continued use of the site after that point means you accept the revised terms.

2. What GreekGuide is

GreekGuide is a free platform where college students can anonymously rank fraternities and sororities at their school, read and post in a school-specific discussion board, and flag content they believe is inappropriate. Rankings and posts reflect the opinions of individual, anonymous users — they are not editorial endorsements and do not represent the views of GreekGuide, its operators, any school, or any Greek organization.

3. Eligibility

GreekGuide is intended for current and prospective college students. You must be at least 13 years old to use the site. By using GreekGuide, you represent that you meet this requirement.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Post content that is false, defamatory, harassing, threatening, discriminatory, or otherwise unlawful.
  • Impersonate any person, organization, or Greek chapter.
  • Share another person's private information without their consent.
  • Submit votes, posts, comments, or reports through automated means (bots, scripts, or other automation).
  • Attempt to manipulate rankings through coordinated, duplicate, or artificial voting, including by circumventing our rate limits.
  • Submit false or bad-faith reports intended to harass another user or silence legitimate discussion.
  • Scrape, copy, or redistribute site data without our written permission.
  • Attempt to access, disrupt, probe, or damage any part of the site's infrastructure.

5. Rankings are opinions, not facts

All rankings on GreekGuide represent the aggregate opinions of anonymous student voters, weighted to reduce the influence of chapters with very few votes. They are not verified facts, and GreekGuide makes no representations about their accuracy, completeness, or reliability. Chapters, organizations, and individuals named on this site should not treat rankings or discussion posts as authoritative assessments of any person or organization.

6. Anti-abuse measures and rate limits

To keep rankings honest, we limit how often a given device can submit rankings for the same school (currently once per month per school, per fraternities/sororities category) using a fingerprint generated in your browser — see our Privacy Policy for details on how that works. We also run automated checks on submitted text to catch spam and abusive language before it's published. We reserve the right to block a device, remove content, or restrict access to the site if we detect an attempt to circumvent these protections or otherwise abuse the platform.

7. User content and license

When you submit a post, comment, or reply to GreekGuide, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, display, and distribute that content on the platform. You retain ownership of what you post. You are solely responsible for the content you submit and represent that it does not violate any law or any third party's rights.

We reserve the right to remove any content at our discretion — including in response to a user report submitted through the site — particularly content that violates these terms or that we determine is harmful to users or the platform.

8. Reporting content

If you see a post or comment that violates these terms, you can flag it using the Report button. Reports are reviewed by us; submitting a report doesn't guarantee that content will be removed, and reported content stays visible while it's under review unless we determine it should come down sooner.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

GreekGuide is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the site will be available at all times, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components. Your use of the site is at your own risk.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GreekGuide and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the site, including any damages resulting from content posted by other users, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold GreekGuide and its operators harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the site, your content, or your violation of these terms.

12. Intellectual property

The GreekGuide name, logo, and site design are our property. You may not use them without our written permission. Chapter names and Greek organization names belong to their respective owners — we reference them for identification purposes only, and referencing them does not imply any affiliation, sponsorship, or endorsement.

13. Termination

We may suspend or restrict your access to GreekGuide at any time, without notice, if we believe you've violated these terms or otherwise pose a risk to the platform or its users. Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability — will continue to apply.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the applicable jurisdiction.

15. Miscellaneous

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, make up the entire agreement between you and GreekGuide regarding your use of the site.
